Where the data comes from
Station records and fuel prices are read from a single third-party fuel-price service through a read-only interface. This site does not collect prices itself, does not operate scrapers and cannot edit the source records.
Which stations are listed
Only records the source identifies exactly as the Costco brand are listed. Brand matching is re-checked on our side before anything is displayed, so a partial brand-name match cannot place another retailer in this directory. Records that carry a Costco name in free text but are not linked to the verified Costco brand record are excluded rather than assumed.
Stations without geographic coordinates remain in all listings and keep their own page. They are omitted only from the map, which needs coordinates to place a pin.
How prices are presented
- Each price is the latest value recorded by the source for that station and grade.
- United States station prices are shown in US dollars per US gallon; Canadian station prices in Canadian cents per litre. The source itself publishes no currency or unit fields, so this measurement basis is applied by country from our own verification of the source data — it is never guessed per record.
- Prices are ranked and compared only between stations in the same country. The two currencies are never converted, and no cross-country comparison, average or saving is implied.
- Price listings are refreshed every 24 hours.
Freshness and caching
The station directory is cached for 15 minutes and price lookups for about 2 minutes, so the site does not re-read the whole source for each visitor. A station that stops qualifying at the source can therefore remain visible here for up to 15 minutes. The source date records when a price changed, while the listings themselves are refreshed every 24 hours; the site displays the refresh cadence rather than that change date.
Errors and gaps
A failure to reach the source is shown as an error, not as an empty result and not as a missing page. A station page returns "not found" only when the station is confirmed absent from a complete directory read. Where coverage for a region is partial, the page says so.
Known limitations
- The source publishes no unit fields, so the USD-per-gallon and Canadian-cents-per-litre basis is applied by country from our own verification. A station recorded outside the US and Canada would fall back to an unverified, unlabelled number.
- Some source records have no coordinates and cannot appear on the map.
- Some Costco-named records at the source are not linked to the verified brand record and are excluded.
- There is no search by address and no nearby or radius lookup.
- Fuel-grade availability reflects what the source lists, which may lag what a station actually sells.
